  • Condition: The figurine is in good condition apart from an area underneath the figurine on the unglazed rim where it stands. I don’t know if this was from manufacture of is a chip, I don’t know how a chip would be there. It doesn’t involve any of the glazed part and stands completely flat and nothing shows when it is standing, it does have a rough feel over that part. I have tried to picture it. There is a tiny fleabite on the body, from manufacture I am pretty sure.

    Description

    DESCRIPTION
    Listing is for a Blue Mountain Pottery Flying Goose Figurine.
    It has bright shiny glaze in the green and black coloring.
    Measures 5½ inches tall, 6½ inches from wing tip to wing tip and 7½ inches long.
    Produced as mold #178.
    These hollow figurines are not marked; they would have had a foil sticker.
    Blue Mountain Pottery was made in Collingwood, Ontario, from the surrounding Georgian Bay clay.
    The clay was dug from the creek beds on the Blue Mountain, aged for two years and purified.
    All of the pieces were glazed and fired at approximately 2,000 degrees.
    We lived about 30 miles from Collingwood, and visited the factory many times and watched the pottery being made.
    The factory closed in December 2004 after decades of operation which will make these pieces not only difficult to find but also increase in value over the coming years.
    These pieces are cherished by Canadians and collectors from around the world.
