    Description

For sale is an adorable Native American Indian Papoose Baby Doll measuring approximately 16” on a Wooden Cradle Board. This gorgeous doll is beautifully crafted with a ceramic porcelain bisque face, hands and forearms and a soft cloth body and legs. The baby doll is dressed in removable layers of fringed suede clothing and draped with three authentic fur pelts: 2 dark pelts (one used as a blanket) and one light/white pelt head covering. The pelts are marked “Made in Brazil”.  With chocolate brown glass eyes, real eyelashes and a full head of black hair, this doll is simply irresistible. Genuine leather straps keep the papoose snug on a traditional wooden American Indian Cradle Board measuring approximately 21 ¼” long by 9 ¼” wide. The doll is signed numbered and dated (1991) on the back of the neck, however, we are unable to decipher the signature as it was covered halfway in the production process.
We purchased this doll at an Estate Sale and have made every attempt to research both the doll itself and what we could read of the name but were unable to locate any dolls similar to this one. Nevertheless, this is a beautifully crafted doll that would look amazing propped up in a chair, displayed on a shelf or as a focal point hanging on the wall.
The doll appears to be in lovely Vintage condition but may have the expected wear for its 25 year age. Please examine all photos prior to purchase.
