Van Briggle Pottery Crafts Vase/Bowl

1920 marked on bottom NOT USA
Round squat bowl decorated with leaves in relief, blue streaked glaze, incised AA pottery mark, with incised 20 indicating year under Van Briggle
ht. 2 3/8, dia. 6 1/4 in.
shape 776  MARKED 1920  Very Rare piece. Most dated designs for this Van Briggle are 1922-1930. With Colorado Springs or USA, this is very rare.  This is clearly marked and highly
collectible.
Noted in the book COLLECTOR'S ENCYCLOPEDIA OF VAN BRIGGLE on pages 21-22 Identification and Dating
Items produced around 1919
through 1920 displayed the logo and the words "Van Briggle" usually in block lettering or written in script.  A characteristic of this period is the "dirty bottom". These items look as if the glaze was wiped off the undersides leaving glaze streaks or residue. Other markings found include the logo, the words "Van Briggle and a number "20" incised below the logo or below "Van Briggle" signifying the date.
