Antique Cantonese Double Handled Mug
Description:
Presented for your consideration is this antique Chinese Cantonese double handled mug (or cup). The mug features a cobalt blue design against a white background. The design is the same on the front and back and features an Oriental inspired scene. The scene features pagodas, a river, a boat and huts. Beautiful, intricate detailing is present throughout. Each handle has a criss-cross pattern done in blue that runs along the handle and a triangle design is where the handle meets the mug. Around the top of the mug is a solid cobalt blue band. Interior of the mug is white. The mug is finished with a smooth glaze, except for around the inner edge which is not glazed. Estimated to date from the mid-nineteenth century to the early 1900s. Hand-crafted blue Canton export dinnerware has been a favorite since colonial times and was even set on the table of George Washington. This neat double handled mug is guaranteed to be antique and all original. Would make a great addition to any Cantonese/Chinese dinnerware collection!
Light wear from age and use. No cracks, chips or breaks. No repairs. Overall in VERY GOOD condition. Please refer to the photos for the absolute best details.
Measures 6" handle to handle, 3 7/8" in diameter, excluding the handles, and 3 7/8" tall.
